Our Philosophy
The philosophy of The Women's Center is that all indidviduals are equal to one another and have the right to live and work in a nonviolent environment. Our staff, volunteers, and board of directors endeavor to promote an atmosphere of empowerment in which victims of domestic and sexual violence can regain confidence, respect, and a postive self image. Our business philopshy is reflected in our workplace services. We believe by empowering employers through education, businesses can make a real difference in the lives of their employees dealing with workplace violence. Join the many other employers in Columbia and Montour counties who have utilized our services to educate their staff on issues of domestic violence, sexual harassment, workplace bullying and social media violence.
How CanThe Women's Center Help Employers Address Workplace Violence?
The Women’s Center can assist employers with training their workforce to recognize, respond and refer victims of workplace violence. Our trainings for managers are designed to enhance managerial awareness and skills in supporting employees who are victims of workplace violence. Training programs for employees are also available. Our workplace violence training programs are offered at the employer's worksite free of charge. All of our programs are designed to meet your training and development needs.
The Women's Center can help employers create a supportive work environment by offering awareness displays and information at your worksite. Invite us to be part of your company's wellness events or host an informational table during lunch and/or employee breaks. We'd love to come!
The Women’s Center offers free workplace posters, informational brochures, and provides resources for newsletter articles. Sample policies and assistance with policy development is also available by calling The Women’s Center at 784-6632.
As one Domestic Violence Survivor said,
"I think even a poster in the lunch room would make me know I wasn't going to be completely off the wall. If I knew somebody cared enough to hang a poster like that, I would have felt a little better about saying something in my present job."
